"The purpose of our existence is not just to live but live well and to be useful for others." The existing epidemic Covid 19 is certainly to be prevented from community spread by staying indoors. But what about those who earn their livelihood on a day to day basis? There are so many who do not have enough food to last them for three weeks.Our government is making all the efforts yet it is our social responsibility to come forward (without leaving our homes) and ensure that they too stay at home without any worry for food. We plan initially to get the ration delivered to the needy with the help of the local authorities and local home delivery chains. LET US KNOW ABOUT THE NEEDY, THEIR NECESSITIES AND THEIR LOCATION IN DEHRADUN

There will be a day–in our lifetime– when we get to celebrate every deforested mountain that regains its green cover. We want to celebrate that day with you. Plant a tree and join the movement!India is losing its forest cover to developmental pressures, forest degradation and climate change. At Desire to Live, we believe that every hand has a role to play in conserving the environment. Through our programs, we raise awareness and encourage communities to plant ecologically viable saplings and nurture them till they find stability.

Managing Waste
Did you know that India produces 1.4 metric tonnes of waste every day? Only a quarter of this is processed! The rest ends up in landfills, rots and spews toxic gases that lead to environmental depletion. Much of this is due to dearth of information on the need for waste segregation and techniques to practice it. At Desire to Live, we work directly with communities to understand their challenges, bust myths, identify community champions and strengthen their capacities to disseminate accurate information on waste management, including waste segregation and composting.

Lets Plant more treesIn September 2019, Desire to Live hosted an epic plantation drive in Bairat Khai,Chakrata, Uttarakhand! It was a first in the district, community members,representative of local governments,leaders of Self-Help Groups and the young people of the district had joined hands and planted over 2,000 spruce,pine and deodar trees.

It is a fact our hand-washing habit is abysmally poor, especially in rural areas of the country. Children are worst affected and they fall prey to many diarrhea and respiratory diseases due to this, medical practitioners say. To contain this malady, Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham in Kerala and Glasgow University in Scotland have jointly developed a robot called ‘Pepe’ which encourages school children to wash their hands properly.

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off an awareness rally of secretariat officials for raising awareness on polythene-free green Doon.Stressing on the necessity of public awareness for a polythene free green city, he said that the rally by secretariat officials would bring positive results in the future.He said a human chain will be formed in Dehradun on November 5 to make the city polythene free.
